Light is not tangible, light is weightless. Very different from glass, which holds onto light for longer: it is vulnerable and can break easily. What would happen if glass were to become weightless? Like a soap bubble, carried along by the wind?
Through defying the laws of gravity, artist Tijs Rooijakkers infuses the glass balls blown by GLOW visitors with a new lightness. Lightness is a playful exploration of the tension between light and its carrier. In the background you see a movie by Jorens Ivens showing how in 1931, Glass Blowing was the core activity here at Strijp-S.
