Adventurous Boompijlenbos in the Reeshof Tilburg
The first real Boompijlenbos grows in the Reeshof with a wilderness of sloping trees, strolling paths, a climbing course, pull ferry and a water play area. An adventurous and natural play forest. There is a great need for this, according to conversations with residents and youth organizations in the Reeshof, such as the scouting and Social Kids. The Boompijlenbos is part of the Boompijl art project, in which we transform slanted trees into gigantic tree arrows by attaching arrowheads to their base. Since 2021, our tree bombings have been popping up in all kinds of places in the Netherlands. As an ode to the resilience and fighting spirit of nature.
Kanaalpark Reeshof
The Boompijlenbos is one of the ideas of the residents’ initiative Kanaalpark Reeshof, whose mission is to make the Reeshof more attractive, greener and more cozy. They do this by working together with residents, entrepreneurs and artists, among others. Other ideas that are alive are walking routes with fruit trees (picking fruit for all Reeshoffers) and De Zwemkom (by artist Jeroen Doorenweerd, swimming outside in the greenery on the canal).
How does the Boompijlenbos continue to grow?
The forest was poorly maintained and partly overgrown with blackberries. We removed these, together with residents and the scouts, during NLdoet on March 15, 2025. There is now space for something new! There is also a first sketch of the Boompijlenbos in which ideas from residents have been included. We now have a working group with enthusiastic residents and organizations who want to think and build with us. We are eager to roll up our sleeves. The plan is to start with small actions such as the construction of the first part of the climbing course, the placement of a first Boompijl. We also want to further expand the working group and we are looking for a ‘community builder’ from the Reeshof who will strengthen our team so that we can make even more connections with the neighborhood.
